Job Description

The primary purpose of the role

The Communications and Public Relations Specialist is part of the marketing department and is responsible for the implementation of a range of internal and external communication, PR and marketing functions, which support the successful delivery of KeyHealth projects and initiatives.

The role also provides specialist advice and services across the business of the Scheme, its departments, customers, stakeholders and creative agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Communications

  • Support the head of the department in managing communications, marketing and stakeholder activities
  • Manage and improve the flow of communications within and outside of the Scheme
  • Promote a positive public image of KeyHealth
  • Implement actions in communication, marketing and stakeholder plans for the department, respective departments, and office of the CEO under the guidance of the head of the department
  • Manage the development of the Scheme’s annual report and all documentation related to the annual general meeting
  • Coordinate external and internal communications flow (memos, newsletters, )
  • Develop media statements and create and maintain up-to-date media databases
  • Plan events, seminars and press conferences
  • Manage stakeholder inquiries
  • Build long-term relationships with influencers and key stakeholders
  • Build relationships and collaborate with cross-departmental teams


Public relations

  • Develop PR campaigns and media relations strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain open communication with senior management
  • Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts, )
  • Prepare and distribute press releases
  • Organise PR events (e.g. open days and press conferences) and serve as the Scheme’s spokesperson
  • Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising
  • Address inquiries from the media and other parties
  • Track media coverage and follow industry trends
  • Prepare and submit PR reports
  • Manage PR issues


Other responsibilities

  • Undertake daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department’s activities
  • Support marketing executives in organising various projects
  • Assist in organising promotional events and traditional or digital campaigns and facilitate their success
  • Prepare and deliver promotional presentations
  • Collate marketing literature (brochures, press releases, etc,) to build the Scheme’s presence in the market

Experience and skills required

  • Proven experience as a public relations specialist or in a similar PR role
  • Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast and print)
  • Background in researching, writing and editing publications
  • Proficient in MS Office and social media
  • Persuasive communication ability (oral and written)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Creativity and problem-solving aptitude
  • Proven ability to work and multitask under pressure, respond quickly to changing situations in complex project environments, prepare responses/narratives quickly and clearly, and use personal initiative
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills – highly articulate team player
  • Ability to schedule work and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to implement communications plans
  • Broader project communications experience and skills are desirable


Essential educational requirements

  • Qualification in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • Exposure in marketing will be an added advantage

The position reports to the Head of Marketing, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
